My Journey of Self-Discovery began with Money & You®…
Shared by Vivienne Quek, 15 Aug 2009 on the Money & You® Yahoogroups:
I read Moonshi’s moving post on how “Money & You®” has a positive impact on his life, and started reflecting my own from 2005 until today.
I decided to share my story after M&Y…
Without M&Y, I most probably will not embark on a self discovery journey. The more I learn, the more I realize that there is a big blue ocean out there to explore, and to amaze at the beauty of the world. The experiential learning enabled me to understand myself in a way I have not known before. I read a lot and I do know quite a few things. However, what I understood was at the intellectual level. M&Y connected my brain to my heart. I realized that the journey between the head and the heart is probably the longest 18-inch journey ever. I commit to using my heart more, and less of my head. “Don’t think don’t think don’t think, feel feel feel” This is something I consciously remind myself. I’m blessed to have good friends who kept reminding me to do so.
After M&Y, I felt hungry, and thirsty, for more knowledge and more experience. Not just to improve my life style and career, but to know me and connect me to myself. It’s the inner world that shapes the outer world; it’s the roots underground that form the fruits above ground. I want to find out who I am and who I am to become. I want to know what’s “BE-DO-HAVE” means.
I went on to BSE in 2006 and learned from the early morning rituals that life is not so hard when I have a supportive team to leverage on. I understood the importance of telling brutal truth with lots of compassion. I emerged stronger and healthier emotionally and spiritually. Somehow, lots of my anger and bitterness have subsided. I am pretty set to be responsible and accountable to my own doing. Until now, I can see Dominique wrote the word “RESPONSIBILITIES” in big bold text on the flip chart.
I had a chat with Dr Dennis Wee once and he said he still attend lots of seminars despite his heavy commitment. What surprised him is people who didn’t have to be there were there and those who should be there weren’t. He encouraged me to make my life a continuous learning journey and I took it to heart. Without fail, every year I devote time for seminars, workshops, talk etc. I commit myself to continuous learning for life.
From 2007 until now, I benefited from the guidance of T Harv Eker, Robert Riopell, Blair Singer, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Robert Kiyosaki, Larry Gilman, Umesh Nanawani, Wu San-Chu, Dominique Lyone, DC Cordova, Dr Serge, Randolph Craft etc, etc.
Whatever I have learned at M&Y made even more sense as I sat in silence listening to what Harv, Blaire and Larry shared from 2007 through 2009. What I didn’t understand back in 2005, I understood now. I realized what DC said was so truth. It could be days or years later that the true essence of MnY is truly felt. I can feel it even stronger now. In 2008, while I was attending Life Direction seminar of T Harv Eker, I suddenly found my purpose in life. Bucky Fuller said there are people who lived their entire life not knowing what their purpose, but that does not mean they did not contribute to the world and live a meaningful life. Still, I was disturbed. I wondered if I will ever know what my life purpose is. Not knowing made me felt empty and hollow. In an exercise at Life Direction, I wrote down my life purpose is to “inspire and empower people, who think small and felt insignificant, to realize their true magnitude and reach for the star”. Now that picture is sitting across my desk at my office.
Recently in 2009, I changed that mission statement to “inspire and empower people to realize their true magnitude and reach for the star”.
What can I do to reach there?
Education is the only way.
I have been in marketing and advertising for 20 years and, working on full campaigns for corporate services and retail products still excite me to the core. I still love launching products, doing road shows, producing TV commercials and all those exciting stuff. However, I decided to shift more attention to seminar marketing and promotion. You probably have noticed my recent posts were less on marketing, advertising or my blog but more on “The BottomLine”, “Reap” and “Money Reap”. Since early this year, I look for good programs with sincere and giving trainers who believe in serving to reap, and start to market them. I cannot tell you how good I felt when participants told me they have enjoyed benefited from the program. And they actually said that even before the 2. 1/2 day program has ended. Wow… that made my day. I was smiling even weeks after the program. The learning curve is there, the uncertainties are challenging me but I really enjoy being at the seminar/workshop room. I am helping people to realize their true magnitude, reach for the star and at the same time, learning together
with all the participants and getting paid for doing what I love. All the headaches are worth it.
Without M&Y starting my self discovery and personal development journey, I wouldn’t have been healthier emotionally, mentally and physically.
I am enjoying the abundance in me, and around me.
I am in adequacy.
I am perfect in my imperfection.
I am in present.
If you are connected to this community, it’s because you believe in M&Y and have reaped from the program. Sow the M&Y seed to your loved ones, friends, colleague, staff etc, and let the program nurture them. They will reap in one way or another. Be the farmer, please.
With Energy,
Vivienne Quek
